We Went to Mexico! Day 7: Last Day Before the Last Day :’(

January 1st was our last full day in paradise… and it makes me sad to say that there will be only one more Mexico post after this and it is not nearly as awesome…:(
By the last day of our vacation, Adam and I were pretty much sunned out. We went to the beach and the sun was so intense that we pretty much hid under the umbrella’s shade all morning. Well, here are some of the last few images from our vacay… *sniff sniff* I love going to Mexico (Puerto Vallarta & Nuevo Vallarta) because it is about as close to home as I can go without going back to Venezuela. Plus the people are so nice in Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta.

The gorgeous mask I got on New Year’s Eve from Le Kliff Restaurant (See Day 6)

For dinner we visited a new place called El Dinamita near the hotel. They had the BEST Cevice I have had yet in Mexico. The food and margaritas were SO AMAZING. The atmosphere was so lovely and the staff was truly awesome.

We Went to Mexico! Day 6: Happy New Year!

You are going to get a little bonus on this post:)

We visited Le Kliff Restaurant for our New Year’s Eve Dinner. For those who don’t know this,  Adam and I got married at Le Kliff Restuarant on Valentine’s Day 2010 and this was our first visit back since our wedding. What made it extra special is that there was a wedding there that evening and they sat us almost with the wedding. It was pretty great.

Carol’s furry little friend:)

Okay, so this is my intervention to the New Year’s Post. Since we arrived at Le Kliff after sunset on New Year’s Eve, I did not get the opportunity to photograph this beautiful place. So, I decided to instead insert some photos of our wedding to give you an idea of what a perfect Wedding location it is! And Carlos, the Owner, was simply the best!

These photos were taken by one of my besties and her hubby Leigh Ann (Saperstone Studios) and Max. I just love her and was so thrilled she could make it to our wedding! I also want to add that we got married on “Snowmageddon”. That is a story for another time because it was crazy!

Adam, me and Leigh Ann. Next to that Max, Leigh Ann’s Hubby.

Amazing, right! What a GORGEOUS place to get married! I am such a lucky girl!

Okay, back to New Year’s Eve. After an amazing dinner at Le Kliff, we returned to the hotel for some Tequila, Yahtzee and fireworks on the beach!

Adam’s attempt at light painting “2012″ I think it is a little backwards.

Happy New Year!!

<3 Always:)

A Place Called Home

A place called home is probably not what you think of when you see this photo… or maybe it is? Well, it is for me. A place called home for me, aside from the warmth of family, really means where I am the most comfortable. If you follow me on Facebook or know me personally (or maybe it shows through my blogs?) I love to be in the studio. But most of all I love black and white. I learned photography by shooting black and white, but really learned how to look at shapes, highlights and shadows without the distraction of color. When shooting this image of Adam (there are a few more that I will post later) I saw nothing but light. I knew what I wanted to highlight and what I wanted in shadow. Not only that, the beauty about playing with light is that new ideas are born.

When I shoot, I follow my gut so strongly. The inspiration just hits me and I see the image I want to take and I do it. If I cannot achieve it during the session it drives me bananas. Really. For example: Kristen’s session, I made her bring hats because I had this image of her in a fuzzy hat in front of a pattern backdrop. Those images turned out so awesome!

When I grow up, I want to be a fashion photographer of some sort… But, I want to be a fashion photographer for real people. Without having to Photoshop them half to death. Each person has their own beauty and this is what I love to photograph. Aside from the random pimple here and there (and depending on the image it may work) I won’t Photoshop you to death.

The studio is a place called home because it is a place where I get to play. The studio is the place where you get to let your alter ego shine. The Studio is a place called home.

We Went to Mexico! Day 5: A Lovely Evening Walk to Bucerias

It was a perfect evening for a walk along the beach. It was breezy and a bit on the cooler side which made it refreshing because the walk to Bucerias was about 30 minutes (45 if you count me making frequent photo stops).

Below: Our pet iguana. This little fellow hung out on the palm tree directly in front of our balcony. The iguana hung out with us pretty much the entire time we were in Mexico and it left on the day we left.

Here I am taking a photo of the photographer taking a photo of them. I could totally live in Mexico, maybe they would hire me?
