2012: You’ve been soooo good to me! Holla! A year in review :D

The “year in review” post didn’t even come onto my radar until I started seeing a few “end of year” posts pop up on my Google Reader. I debated… meh I don’t think I want to do one… but in reality I DO! This year was FREAKING INCREDIBLE! I met...more

The “year in review” post didn’t even come onto my radar until I started seeing a few “end of year” posts pop up on my Google Reader. I debated… meh I don’t think I want to do one… but in reality I DO! This year was FREAKING INCREDIBLE! I met incredible people, photographed incredible people and just plain ol’ lived it up! Last year I claimed to the world that I wanted to meet Jasmine Star and I did in March! It was such an incredible moment because I got to network with such amazing and talented artists from the area :) . So Universe! This year I want to meet Sue Bryce (and Tiesto!!)! ;) This year has, of course, not come without changes and growth. It was a year of self-discovery and personal growth. It was a year of finding where I fit in the photo world, it was a year of discovering “what’s my thing?”. So, What is my thing you ask? Portraits! I have found my home in taking Glamor Portraits of women (as you will see in the very end of this blog post). This has come because I discovered Sue Bryce and she, as well as her work, have been such an inspiration. When I discovered her workshop on Creative Live this summer my world literally flipped upside down (in a good way). She was the change I was so eagerly wanting. Normally, when I see something that I really want to try, I really make an effort to try it. But this, this was a whole new feeling. It was a feeling that this was something I was meant to do. So, I am finding my way in the Glam. Portrait world. With that being said, lots of changes are coming to Anna D Bruce Photography. For example… 2013 is going to be my last year shooting weddings. Period. A new website is coming and my new logo is currently in the works. I will be offering some new products and a whole new level of awesomeness :) As the year progressed, Adam and I got to go to England. It was our first time there and it was such an incredible trip (I still haven’t finished blogging about it lol). My best friend then got married and I got to be a bridesmaid! It was so weird to be part of the wedding like that and not be the “official” photographer lol! Then the editing frenzy happened because Christmas somehow snuck up on me and I wanted to have things done before “calling it quits” for 2012. Unfortunately, 2012 took away an incredible person, Sean. Sean was a friend and client of mine. I was able to meet his mom who is an incredible person and so strong. My love is with you always Donna. So, 2013 what do you have in store for me? I am so excited for you. 2012, thank you for the incredible opportunities you have given me. Thank you for allowing me to once again shoot alongside the amazing Liz Maryann Photography and Heather Bee Photography as well as letting me shoot for the first (and several times there after) along the incredible Evelyn Alas Photography. Thank you for bringing into my life the amazing Alison Harper & Co so that her team can glam up my clients. Thank you to my hubby, family, babies (Leela and Stealth) and friends for your love and support. Happy New Year!!! xoxo always! Anna :) 2011 closed and 2012 started with an incredible trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (the place where Adam and I tied the knot). Gary came to me shortly after Christine’s portrait session. He told me he loved the work I did for his girlfriend and asked me if I was available to do something similar for him :) How fun! Gary is a guitarist and local Hip-Hop artist. He wanted something that showcased him as an artist without being too cliche. We got to brainstorming and came up with some great ideas for the shoot. I think these photos definitely represent him now! (I am not just saying that because I shot them ;) ) Please be sure to check out Gary’s site and give him some love on hisĀ  Facebook page! <3

THIS is why I love what I do! By far one of my favorite sessions from this year :) All sessions I have done are near and dear to my heart because I love my clients and I love what I do. This session, I feel, hugely represents a part of me and what I like. I love art, I love tattoos, I love studio and I love photographing people. Well this session is all of those things. Meet Cady, a fellow classmate. She contacted me one day because she wanted to have photographs taken of her tattoo for her tattoo artist’s portfolio. This isn’t just any beautiful tattoo but a significant work of art. This is a painting Cady’s grandmother did shortly before passing away. It meant a great deal to Cady. The tattoo took about 40 hours to complete over a 4 year period. It is AMAZING! I am very honored to have been the chosen photographer for this session. <3 Tattoo Artist: Isaac Mitchell Photography: Anna D Bruce (me :D ) Hair and Makeup: Cady (she rocks! it was flawless!)   This black and white below is my FAVORITE! I debated for a while whether I should do B&W for this blog entry and it felt wrong not to. I love B&W and its part of me as a photographer… it’s how I learned to look at photography. In true Anna D Bruce Photography fashion… it wasn’t JUST about the tattoo for me but about photographing a beautiful person. I love faces. She is STUNNING. Wow.
