Baby Gabriel arrived on this planet just three days after this session. Talk about perfect timing! Personally, I am not ready to have children yet but I feel as a photographer that photographing a pregnancy is more than the life growing within. It is about the love that created that special being. In this set of photos, I really tried to focus on Mom and Dad and their love for one another. There was such a special chemistry between them that day.

Like everything else in technology… don’t buy the first generation of something new because it will always have kinks and never be as good as newer models. We learn from what we create and make it better.

This leads me to my new phone. Another Android.

Adam and I were on our way to the grocery store and somehow the conversation of cell phones came up so I looked over and suggested we go to Verizon because we were past due on phones. I really wanted the Motorola Droid 4 because it had a pull out keyboard. I was tired of the touch screen on my old phone because it was slow and not very accurate. Well, the rep who helped us told us that the Droid Razr (the phone Adam wanted and was drooling over) was buy one get one free… but the sale didn’t apply to the Droid 4. I was pretty annoyed because the phones were the same price and I REALLY wanted a keyboard. After thinking about it, I couldn’t justify the $199 price tag because I wanted to have a keyboard so Adam and I got two Droid Razrs. I was blown away by how fast this new phone is. Everything I disloved about my old phone was gone. This new phone is sleek, thin, fast and pretty. So pretty. But mostly it is FAST. It runs on 4Glte which is incredible compared to 3G.

So now, I am a happy camper with my new Droid phone. Now, I am sure my Apple Fan friends, Microsoft Fan Friends and Blackberry Fan Friends are probably wondering why I kept with Android instead of switching to a different type of smart phone. Well two reasons… 1. Adam. 2. My business.

1. Adam, enough said. Listen to your smart IT hubby.

2. My business. It’s based on Google… Gmail, Google Voice, Google Calendar and some other Google-ness. Even though I love Apple, Apple doesn’t love Google so it would never have worked out between us. I am not a huge Microsoft fan- I feel like their phones are way too complicated for my untech-savvyness and Blackberry is not my style.

So I am not going to relive my wedding because you can see photos here but I am going to relive some other pretty epic moments that make this day so darn AWESOME!

Red Chucks!

I am not 100% sure how the story of Chucks actually began but it involved my big brother when I was growing up. I think he wore either blue or black chucks… or both? Not sure but when I had my first job working at Ruby Tuesday’s I had enough money to splurge on many things. I remembered about my brother’s Chucks and headed to the store where I bought a black pair and a pink pair. I still have the pink pair! (Can you believe they are almost 10 years old and almost have a hole going through the sole?). The black ones weren’t so lucky, they got trashed in Italy and then were laid to rest after dance party *insert angelic “I didn’t do it face”* lol.

So as time went on from 2003 til now, Chucks made a come back. You can pretty much get any style or create your own. Very awesome.

The story of red chucks has to do with Adam. His favorite color is red. Part of sharing your life with someone is sharing hobbies and taking an interest in each others interests. He has an interest in photography and I have an interest in cars… We have the same car… his is red and black themed and mine is white and red themed. So you know I have pink chucks. All this time I had been collecting various chucks but I really REALLY wanted red ones. When I left my last job, one of my co-workers Kim, gave me a pair as a good bye present. I call her my play big sister because we have a lot of things in common

Well, after Adam and I got married we really wanted a “wedding themed” photo session with our cars. Something unique to us to remember forever and ever. So, we did a session with my really awesome friend Leigh Ann.  I brought the red chucks with me to be funny… like I really planned to match my car. Well the funny thing is that after that shoot, I purposely try to match my car by wearing a lot of red.

So, today Adam and I are celebrating two years of marriage. He has an amazing date planned for us tonight but I just wanted to share the little something he left for me this morning

Finally, since it is our anniversary and this post is about us… how about sharing some wedding day music? Specifically our first dance? “Gotas de Agua Dulce” by Juanes.  I chose to play this song for so many reasons. Adam picked the venue and I picked our first song. For one, it was in Spanish and it resonated with my Venezuelan roots, secondly we were getting married in a Spanish speaking country, Mexico, and third I was helping Adam practice his Spanish I still get all teary eyed when I hear it.

I am a random person with a loving sense for “drama” but no drama in my life, although I do enjoy Grey’s Anatomy… The drama I enjoy is in how I like to express myself and my creative self. I like dramatic accessories (like necklaces, earrings and bracelets that call a lot of attention to themselves), outrageous shoes (although I find myself wearing flat shoes 99% of the time… but hey, who says flat can’t be outrageous?), outrageous shirts (LJ MTX and Connie I am looking at you) and dramatic photography. This post is about shoes but it ties in to my photography. In my photos I like to have dramatic lighting, this mostly applies to studio but I am thinking of ways to incorporate it in weddings, in my wedding photography I like to be edgy and different. I tell my husband all the time that I don’t see myself in the traditional way. Rembrandt lighting? No I like flaring and highlights and lots of contrast and dramatic black and whites. Yes I also like to ramble. These are some of the things that make me who I am.

So now back to the shoes. I got these snazzy golden babies for a steal! I had seen them on Alloy a few months back but could not justify spending full price plus shipping on shoes I may wear twice this year. A few days ago I got a “secret clearance sale” e-mail from Alloy and guess what I got for $9 and some change? Yeah, these!

We arrived at the beautiful Lowes Hotel in Annapolis to photograph Lynne and Joe getting ready. Their wedding was truly amazing and they are such a sweet couple. I really enjoyed being part of their special day (even if I was behind the scenes )

Their first look before the wedding ceremony. So sweet. I love these because it is an intimate moment in which the bride and groom get to see each other for the very first time (and we get to document it!)

They had an amazing selection of treats! Liz got up to document them as I was enjoying a quick bite to eat. Normally, I do ring shots during the dinner hour. Well, talk about perfect timing because those treats were an excellent backdrop for their gorgeous rings!

This is Lynne’s sister and for her Maid of Honor speech she did her own rendition of “So Happy Together”. It was so amazing.
